Chapter1 part 2:Marigold

I scooted closer to Marigold, and started to pet her soft coat.
She had a slight gash on her right shoulder.
I remember the day I found her...

There I was at Birch Wood Zoo, it was where I always took a walk.
I enjoyed seeing all the miserable animals in cages that where smaller than a broom-closet, it made me feel powerful (which was one of my favorite feelings). I was eating an ice cream cone that I had stolen from a seven year old kid, I had told them, "You know if you eat that you'll probably die".
I watched a couple trucks move in some new animals...COOL!
I saw all sorts of new things that I had never heard of like: a mother and baby Ocelot, an Aye-aye (which actually wasn't as cute as I would have thought), Giant Panda, and the Okapi.
wow! there were so many
That Okapi is freaking awesome, I want it!
When I want something I always get it.
"hey", I said to one of the zoo keepers
"yeah, what do you want?", he said grumpily
"oh no sir you've got it all wrong I was speaking for my friend, uh...Bobby he really wanted to see the chimpanzee", I said gesturing to the innocent kid that I had previously robbed of his ice cream.
"oh", said the zoo keeper bending down to talk to the kid"well hello there Bobby"
"my name isn't--", he stopped in mid sentence,"SHE GOT YOUR KEYS!"
By that time I had grabbed the keys off his belt loop and was frantically trying to pry open the door of the Okapi"s cage.
THERE I DID IT!
I jumped on her back, and although I wasn't thinking that my plan would really work
she bolted in a random direction(which was fine for me, because I had nowhere to go).
after a while she got tired and stopped I was surprised that she hadn't flung me off her back.
We sat there for a second just staring into each others eyes.
"well, I got you out of that hell hole for good didn't I?", I asked her stupidly, waiting for her to answer me like in some fantasy world.
"what should I call you?", I asked crossing my finger still hoping that she was a magical okapi that could talk.
"something natural like: Daisy, Lilly, Palm Tree(laugh), willow, marigold..MARIGOLD! YES"
okay I think I might be making this part up, but I could have sworn that after I said "Marigold" she nodded her head in approval.
yep Marigold...

Chapter1:Marigold

The night was falling and Marigold, my okapi, was sound asleep.
The dead coals and embers that were once a fire, gleamed red and orange.
I lay on the ground without moving. Blood gushed out of the place where my bone was protruding from my leg.
I felt my pocket with my left hand which hadn't been as damaged.
Then I let out a sigh of relief.
They were all there.
I counted all four gemstones:
  • the first gem was a flame queen opal
  • the second gem was a Gachala emerald
  • the third gem was a Dresden green diamond
  • and the forth was the most beautiful Tanzanite in the entire world
I knew that the government wanted to kill me now(exaggerating?), so I didn't try to find a place to stay.
As long as I stayed in nowhere-land everything was safe, or so I thought.
